"Get Real", Counselling Services Inc., offers experienced, qualified and caring therapy, focused on dedicated timely and professional, out-patient counselling.

Counselling services are primarily provided for Adolescents, Teens, Adults, and Families, struggling with the effect of alcohol, drugs and behavioural addiction(s) on their lives.

Highly individualized treatment programs are developed with a wide-ranging emphasis on education related to the nature and causes of addiction.

Clients explore the correlation of their past bio-psycho-social consequences to their disease of addiction.

Clients are guided in the development of a healthy, comprehensive vision of their future recovery.

Clients gain awareness of the importance of developing a healthy support network and the added benefits of personal sharing within the network.

The principles involved in long-term recovery and relapse prevention are given great emphasis.

Counselling and psychotherapy with individuals, couples, and families on issues such as addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, adoption/attachment issues, and GLBTTQQI issues.

I approach the therapy process in a collaborative way, honouring the innate knowledge that each person holds within themselves to guide their own therapeutic process. I believe that a strong relationship between a therapist and a client is an essential foundation for enabling a person to comfortably explore past experiences, and begin to shift present patterns that are causing them difficulty. These patterns often serve a self-protective purpose in the beginning, but may cause a person difficulty or pain later in life, and can leave an individual feeling stuck and sometimes powerless to change. I view my role in this process as facilitator for therapeutic change—creating a safe and comfortable environment, where clients can become more aware of their inner needs and strengths, and eventually begin to feel more connected to themselves and others. I believe that when clients feel valued and respected, they can safely examine and come to understand the patterns in their life that may be preventing them from attaining their goals. I work with clients to support them to feel more empowered to make changes in their lives.
